Bearings

A mechanical bearing allows for the positioning, conveyance of stress and rotation between two parts by replacing a sliding action with a rolling action. This mechanical component optimises the connection's friction and precision. A ball bearing consists of two coaxial races between which the slightly lubricated balls are placed, and kept spaced apart by means of a cage.

Bearing housings

Housings are mechanisms used in mechanical construction to support and guide, in rotation, transmission shafts. Depending on the desired use, these housings may be: *smooth where the shafts resting on the bushings are subjected to sliding friction between the surfaces in contact with one another *rolling where the contact occurs through balls or rollers contained in cages. Here rolling friction occurs, allowing for greater charge on the housings and faster rotation speed.

Needle and roller
